I LOVE ur comic. No subject is untouchable! You are one of the only few brave artists i can find on the web who keeps it true!

Your story is so gripping, i couldn`t stop reading until i got here! If i ever (Finally) publish a book, i hope it to be as good a read as this.

Do not apologize! I for one appreciate the focus on quality rather than just churning out filler strips just to stay on schedule! Take all the time you need, and the payoff will be evident in the finished product!

Jennifer has it right…
You really don’t want to be laying down in labor if you don’t have to be.
I know when I had my baby they couldn’t get me to lay down at all, not even too monitor the contractions (as if I couldn’t feel them!)

Most of the time I was standing up or crouching down, holding on to my partner and doula for support.

During transistion I was on my hands and knees (doing that crazy yoga pelvic rock so I wouldn’t push too soon) and then for the actual delivery I was squatting (being held up by doula and mother).

I say all this to illustrate the point that labor isn’t always the lay down affair depicted in movies and TV…
People also tend to be in bed after epidurals (needle in spine) because of course…once the epidural goes in…you’re paralized from the waist down.

Awww…looks like poor Maria is having back labor. That’s the most painful labor. I had it with my first.

@Lenya: standing up and walking around when you’re in labor helps to bring the baby down and it’s less painful than lying down.

Thanks for this great depiction of labor! I’m happy to see that she isn’t strapped down to the bed. Really beautiful strip.
