Can you post some of Maria’s lines in original Swedish, please? I’d like to see how the northern dialect looks like when spelled out.
Back in high school our Swedish language teacher was quite strict about us speaking only proper “book” Swedish, which is perhaps one of the reasons I, like so many Finns suck at speaking Swedish and excell in English ; )

One Finnish comic con is the Helsingin Sarjakuvafestivaalit (Helsinki Comics Festival) – http://sarjakuvafestivaalit.fi/ (english info available at the website)
Other than that there are smaller comic cons in Kemi ( http://www.kemi.fi/sarjis/ – english and swedish info at the website) and in Tampere, Tampere Kuplii (“Tampere is bubling”, http://www.tamperekuplii.fi/ – only finnish info available). I’m pretty sure there are comic cons in other cities as well, but I don’t know about them.
There’s also Finncon for sci-fi and Ropecon for role playing games.

i don’t think anders is a tool so much as perhaps naive– he takes what people say at face value and thinks he’s being a nice person with how he handles things (i.e. like assuming maria did actually want to sleep with him). without that understanding of what’s going on at a deeper level, he often gets himself into trouble.

I don’t understand HOW people can be at Anders throat at this comic!
At this point I’m pissed at Maria. She jumped at Bjorn for supposedly trying to get rid of her and the baby, then swears she’s never going home (effectively abandoning Bjorn, drinks alcohol (ie she doesn’t care about the child as much as she says), and propositions Anders (trying to cheat on Bjorn) All in one day! And just because she says she’s kidding after the fact doesn’t mean its true.
Everything Anders has done in present time to make people hate him is being done by Maria right now! Anders has been nothing but nice to this girl and all anyone sees is that somehow this makes him a bad person.

I think Maria is coloring her hair now (at this young point of her life). When she was young in the earlier flashbacks, it was black, and looking at Johan’s hair color, I’d imagine it’s a family hair color; I would find it very surprising that her hair got naturally lighter as time went on – I’m not sure that happens, especially from black.

Has anyone brought up how much Sofi kind of looks like Maria down the road…at least, the hair. Bjorn and Maria are both contradicting themselves (as far as Maria getting mad then saying she’ll never go home, saying she cares about the baby then drinking) so I’m not that mad at Maria. Plus she’s real young. But I do think Bjorn did a really great thing for her, maybe because he recognizes her youth and that she still has time that perhaps he once wasted. And I’m loving all of the back story so far. This is such a great comic.

I wanted to say that I’m a huge fan of the comic, and I love the artwork.
I’ve been finding, though, that Maria’s accent written out is a little distracting. I think it takes away from the comic. I understand what you’re trying to get across, but it seems a little too exaggerated to me.
