I know that there are a million reasons not to, I know that sometimes he really, really fucks it up, but I’m one of those people that still likes Anders. Deep down inside. I want Anders and Marai to end up together and be happy. (DO YOU HEAR ME, RENE?!?!?)
So I will defend him now.
I honestly think he’s probably just trying to be nice to the poor girl who is stuck there painting. Okay, he probably thinks that she’s cute as well, but that’s beside the point.
My prediction is, looking at what little we know of Sofi at this point, nothing will happen between Maria and Anders just yet, but Sofi will get jealous and end up ending things between them. Which will open the two of them up for a relationship.

I feel bad for sofi though, you can see she isnt too happy anders would invite someone else along..she clearly thought no matter what they did that they’d be alone.
Im also really torn about maria’s accent..i like knowing how its supposed to sound in my head, and at the same time im not a huge fan of how its ‘written’ into the last few comics. Is she going to have her accent written out the rest of the comics now?

I’m surprised no one’s mentioned how hilarious the way Anders is carrying Sofi is! That cracked me up the second I saw it. What makes it even funnier is the way that they’re speaking to each other like nothing is unusual at all.
I think it says a lot about their relationship– they seem very at ease with each other, and I think there might be more to it than just casual hook-ups in the darkroom. Makes me feel a lot more sorry for Sofi, knowing that it can’t last :\

I don’t like Maria’s accent written out. We know how it should sound now, but in extended vocalizations it is awkward to read.

So many things I liked about today’s comic. Maria’s eyes, as has been mentioned already, are just great, especially the sidelong glance she gives a Sofi. And the brush tucked behind her ear, so adorable. The light sprinkling of her accent is a nice touch, too. I also enjoy how Ander’s is carrying Sofi, as it gives you an idea of how silly and fun-loving he is, at least at this point (he gets all serious when he gets older).

I think it says a lot already that in the 3rd panel, after Anders hears Maria’s frustration, his hand is on Sofi’s back, almost pushing her away, turning his body away from her, and then he doesn’t even look at her for the rest of the comic. This is some severe body language. Did anyone else pick up on that? It was really subtle. Nice job, Rene!

I am still so starry-eyed over the new updates I can hardly think. Well, think anything other than “ALL THESE UPDATES ARE SO BEAUTIFUL”.
In an exciting twist away from most other reader’s evaluations, I feel really sorry for Anders. If you reread the comic, you can actually pinpoint most of the places where he made all the wrong decisions (although the first bad one was made by Maria – O.O).

I actually like Sofi. I think if she wasn’t in the comic at all and Anders wasn’t with anyone the whole feeling of how him and Maria met might have a different meaning.
Yeah Sofi is just in it to have a good time it seems but she really adds to this part of the story.
I almost feel a bit bad for her because obviously her and Anders relationship doesn’t work but it happens.
And probably why alot of people are not fond of her is because we know that Maria and Anders do end up together in the very beginning of the comic.
If the story started from when she was with Bjorn we might not be so fond of the Anders and Maria relationship

i dunno, i don’t think anders is being entirely innocent, but i also don’t think he’s calculating enough to be trying to get into maria’s pants yet. i think he just likes most women, likes being around them etc, and after that, whatever happens happens. he’s not calculating at *all*, he’s just horny and doesn’t think beyond the immediate. but that doesn’t mean he’s not capable of associating sex with love.

I agree with Rubi. Why hate Anders? He hasn’t really even done anything bad yet, and if he did do something bad, we’d probably do the same thing. He just got into bad situations. And Sofi isn’t some jerky whore, I bet most of you all are just pissed because she isn’t Maria. We have not seen enough of her yet to determine if she is good or bad.

Anders is a dick. He doesn’t care about anyone as much as he does himself. He’s proven this time and time again with his 0 self control or care for others feelings in the moment. He has no sense of responsability. He gets upset at his actions, not because he’s hurt other people, but because he fucks up his life. I personally would set him on fire if I were any one of the women he’s fucked with.
PS- love the whole story line- best thing I’ve seen on the internet in a long time. Keep up the good work

Great comic! I don’t think Anders is scheming to get into Maria’s pants or anything, but it does seem he’s being a little dismissive of Sofi by inviting someone she doesn’t know without talking to her first. Sensitivity has never been his strong suit, unfortunately.
As for Sofi, I think it’s her defensive territoriality when it comes to Anders that gets on people’s nerves. Probably knowing about his predilections, she seems to get her guard up whenever another young female is near Anders. I just love how well-written and well-drawn the comic is, that readers including me make all these judgments and have feelings towards these fictional characters.

honestly, this whole comic (thus far) seems like an analysis of a modern relationship. Both parties are making mistakes, and both are punishing the other or getting revenge or whatnot. Each has hurt the other, but ultimately the feeling that comes through is that they love each other.
I am rooting for Anders and Maria. I don’t know how they are going to fix things, especially with Anders having bedded Lena’s daughter and her friend… that was probably not smart. Anders does make some dumb decisions, but so does Maria… and why the heck isn’t anyone using protection! Isn’t anyone afraid of getting disease or having unwanted pregnancies (as has obviously screwed with his plans more than once)?
Anyway, I don’t hate Anders but I’m frustrated with him. This part of the comic just seems to illustrate his previous (very sexual, casual, comfortable) relationship… and I agree, he was being nice to the girl who wanted to break her brushes. As an artist, I KNOW how she feels.

Well. As I was trying to say: nothing wrong in playing, as long as all the players are aware of the rules.
I didn’t actually mean he was a jerk for inviting a fellow art student to join in on their coffee break. It was a mere judgement over the game he seems to be playing throughout the comic.
Plain fucking around without considering consequences often equals: fucking up.
And yeah, I’m sure he’s aiming for the Nice Guy approach. Deep inside he’s a little puppy yearning for sympathy and making people happy by bringing them intimacy and sweetness. The flaw in this, he must be doing something real wrong!

Ugh, he IS a jerk.
Not because I think he’s trying to get into Maria’s pants right now, and not because there’s something “wrong” with inviting the new girl out for coffee under other circumstances… but because he is NOT treating Sofi well.
He entirely dismisses the fact that she wants to have some quality time with him, and changes their plans without consulting her and more than that, directly against her interest. That’s now how you act like a “compassionate nice guy.”
Asking Sofi, “wait, how about inviting the new girl along with us for coffee to give her a break too, and then the two of us can go to my place?” is how you’d do it if you were at all socially sensitive (or cared about Sofi and what she wants).
