Wow, this really captures the whole “cattle market” feel of being inside the building. Great page!
Maria looks so sweet and tiny, too.. You just want to find her a quiet corner to sit in.
Cluster of tiny, horrible people…describes highschool PERFECTLY!
(actually, I’m a short-arse, myself, so I WAS the ‘tiny’ part of it but the ‘horrible’ part…well, I went to an all-girls highschool….*shudder* ‘horrible’ doesn’t even BEGIN to describe it!!!)
You know, I’m really hanging out to find out what happens with Anders and Maria and their baby. But I have to say, it’s really nice getting an insight into what has made everyone they way they are today, via these flashbacks.
FLASHBACKS FLASHBACKS FLASHBACKS! I love them! They almost seem like THE major part of the story. Like, we were plunged in right in the middle to start with and are looking back on the meat of the story. The character development is great!
bjorn seems so lovely. i have always liked anders. even when his behaviour was so completely insane. im beginning to waver though. i wonder what happened to them …
Are the gossiping girls in then penultimate panel simply standard teenage gossips, or is the “Did you hear/Oh my gawd” an indication that they are gossiping about … Maria? Tina? Michael Jackson?
At this point of the story Tina is no longer in school, at least not in that one since Maria is about to graduate. At least I think so since she (or Björn in her place) applied to Konstfack. So no gossiping about Tina. It’s probably something random.
I love the idea of Maria’s older boyfriend turning up at her school full of girls and just verbally damning all of them. It’s so Maria and it must have made her feel so proud, while at the same time highlighting so badly how she didn’t really have the family to turn to instead

Teenage Maria is great, the first panel conveys so much about who she is and who she will be. brilliant visual story telling.

Brilliant! I love this one! Then again I love all of the A<3M I’ve read.

Love the comic! Wish you had a random button though so I could flip through the story and say “aww I remember that.” You truly are an inspiration.

YAYYY.

For me it was more clusters of big, horrible people. But small-minded!

That.. that is brilliant and I love it. Replace “Horrible” with “loud” or “clingy”, and you’d get the elementary school where my mom works. *grins*

I find it odd how I’ve come to identify young maria more with the character of maria than old maria.

Oh man! I went to an all-girls’ school, too *shudders*, which means that everybody was pretty shorts…and I was 5’10″.
I am saving this one.

Ah yes high school was indeed a horrible thing.

I knew a girl like teenage-Maria once.
I helped her with her problems, and then she turned twenty… twenty-one… and twenty-too-cool-for-you.
A comic that draws upon memories of the reader as always. Such a bittersweet plot you’ve managed, keep it up!

I’m kind of hoping this comic ends with Bjorn <3′s Maria
…
…I’ll just go stand in the corner now alone I suppose….

Totally worth the wait!
Bjorn hipdeep in horrible tiny people takes me back. Mad props to Gulliver, horrible tiny people in clusters = lemmings with attitude.

Easily my favorite line in the whole thing.
