#245 – None of your business

Sketch-A-Thon 2
* Each and every donation: The new diary strip (Attention: spoilers! So let me know if you don’t want this) and the mini comic pdf Sex and the Suburbs (These will be emailed to you, make sure your email address is included in your paypal donation form)
* $25+ dollars: A6 hand-inked sketch b&w or simply coloured with Protip markers.
* $50+ dollars: A6 hand-inked, hand-painted watercolour.
* $100+ dollars: A5 hand-inked, hand-painted watercolour.
The highest donor will, on top of their sketch/painting, receive:
* An original hand-inked/painted page from the comic (available comics can be seen in the store)
* The original journal comic done for this Sketch-A-Thon (4 pages, hand inked and coloured) Includes spoilers!
* A signed original copy of the minicomic Sex and the Suburbs (nsfw). There are only 10 left and I’m keeping all but one.

This strip just shows her change from carefree, to secluded. I’ve seen it happen in girls who actually have had an abortion.

Life’s bitter wind nails Tina in the back once again. Hope that sweater is warm! Nice colors, especially the background with the lockers. You do such an excellent job here tagging your characters! I enjoy the thicker panel borders.

Um, maybe she’s doing this because when she needed support he wasn’t around? Or because she got pregnant because he pressured her? I can think of a lot of reasons that have nothing to do with her dad, the biggest one being that Johan is kind of an asshole.

Johan is kind of fifteen, maybe younger. Just because our bodies are physicaly able to reproduce at that age, does not mean we can deal with it in the most emotionaly mature way. Birth control is important!

That’s a kind of weird response. My vitriol is aimed squarely at Johan… but then I’ve never understood why anyone thinks Johan is so great. He deliberately sabotaged Anders’ relationship with Maria, and then acts like Anders is completely to blame for that (not that Anders isn’t an asshole, too).
Heh, it kind of reminds me of a Futurama quote that I was just reminded of recently: “I’m telling you, they’re not evil! But don’t be confused, they are jerks.”

To have an abortion at that young is hard. I know. I was 15 when I had mine. I was angry with my body, myself, and not to mention the boy. Her feelings are perfectly natural.

I feel really bad for Johan in that last panel. He looks so helpless. If you ignore for a second what he says and just look at his body language it becomes so obvious that he’s confused and worried about Tina but has no idea how to express that or what to say to her.

Unfortunately, I think this in the past. Probably partly because of this she grows up to be someone who would bend over backwards to ensure that there would be someone there to love her.

I don’t particularly care much for Tina, honestly, so this particular strip has no effect on me. Aside from the overwhelming impulsive twitch to hug the heck out of Johan, that is. *Twitch*

I think some people are being a little bit hard on Johan. He was 15 or 16 here. He didn’t know how to express his emotions in a “better” way. Yes, it was crappy of him to just be unsupportive of her, but I can’t help but feel bad for him in that last panel…
