#243 – Hey Princess
Monday, June 8th, 2009I made a last minute decision to take the train down to Malmö. I drew and painted this on the train so it’s a bit shaky, but presentable.
This is the last week for Sketch-A-Thon, and the last week to donate for original art from me, and insuring Anders Loves Maria runs smoothly for the next while. Thanks to everyone that has donated so far. Your support really means a lot to me!
Sketch-A-Thon 2

* $25+ dollars: A6 hand-inked sketch b&w or simply coloured with Protip markers.
* $50+ dollars: A6 hand-inked, hand-painted watercolour.
* $100+ dollars: A5 hand-inked, hand-painted watercolour.
The highest donor will, on top of their sketch/painting, receive:
* An original hand-inked/painted page from the comic (available comics can be seen in the store)

Oh my, it’s one of those days when my pillow gets damp. It’s so rough to say, I’m been every one of the characters. Tks Rene so much for the slice. We’re all just trying to do our own best. And the amazing things is we keep trying, and thanks so much for making this an awaesome place to keep coming back to.

It looks great for a shaky train ride edition. Heck, it looks great for any edition. The colours especially are beautiful for a very intimate moment.

I never understood the Tina-haters out there. Yeah, she was a little zany with the whole pretending-to-still-be-pregnant episode, but I’ve always liked her and felt bad for her. She was treated like shit by Anders and now we see how Johan treated her badly as well. The previously hinted-at pregnancy just adds more pity to her character. She’s probably the only character I harbor no bad feelings for.
On the flipside of the coin, I’ve never liked Johan as much as most other people seem to, because violent assholes rarely strike my fancy. Now with this added on top of it…eh. I’m really not a fan.

Wonder how Johan responds the unexpected pregnancy, even if he was the one that was offended that she wanted to use a condom. A poster on the previous comment did bring up a point that he attacked Anders on Tina’s behalf because he saw his own mistakes reflected back at him. But only time, and more flashbacks will tell.

You know I’ve never really understood the Tina hate either, at least when it comes to her being such a pushover.* Have you guys really never been there/felt like that? How does doing everything she can to please people make her a “tool”? Unforutnate, yes, annoying, yes, pitiful/pathetic, yes, but can you really get ANGRY at her for having low self esteem?
Everybody seems to forget that the reason she was living in a giant house by herself was because her parents DIED? Im not saying it necessarily excuses her actions, but she’s pretty messed up, and I think she deserves a lot more sympathy than loathing…
*I CAN totally understand people hating her for the whole manipulative baby farce, though, or that one time she tried to seduce Johan, which was… pretty messed up.

Meh, Maria got pregnant twice and Tina 1 1/2 times. And Lena apparently got pregnant twice in her life as well, but that’s about it. I think that’s a good record for people who are not so into condoms…
I am still wondering what happened to Maria’s first pregnancy. She seemed quite determined to keep the baby, possibly because she knew her arch-enemy had an abortion and she didn’t want to be like her.
And yeah, Tina is a tool. But that’s no reason not to feel sorry for her. She really needs a friend who tells her that she’s worth something without pleasing everybody, but I don’t think she has any.

I love this comic, but my sympathy for the characters only goes so far. All that unprotected sex and no genital herpes? (Sweden has some of the worst herpes infection stats in the industrialized world, over a quarter I think.) No HIV?
Or maybe that’s a plot twist for the future, which would be plenty realistic too: HIV and HSV are exploding in heterosexual populations because a lot of people get it and don’t realize it, and don’t think to get tested because they don’t think of themselves as being in an “at-risk” group… and then pass it on again because they’re not insisting on condoms.

hmmmm, maybe Tina “acts like” a victim because she was a victim, or started out that way? is it possible she becomes a “slut” and a desperate people-pleaser because she was molested by an adult in her life as a young child? I’ve always been very curious about Tina’s backstory, and about why Maria harbors so much hate against her. Dun dun dun dunnnnn!!!!

Just found comic and luv it BTW…
eh, don’t get all the tina-haters, but its good we find out about her previous abortion. I luv Johan though. And the scene where Johan and anders are sleeping together choked me up. Like even though they hate each other, they share luv for the same girl? Dunno, but love this weeks comic, keep going!

ya shoulda made him put on the damn rubber, girl! Oh Tina. I feel bad for her so much but in the end she could have stopped any of the bad crap thats happened to her (aside from the whole parents dying thing). She didn’t HAVE to fall for Anders and get treated like shit. She didnt have to sleep with Johan. Poor girl. I know so many people like this

Uh oh, too much more of this and it might start getting hard to figure out who is “good” and who is “bad.”
