I *almost* feel bad for Tina, being the craziest girl in town and everybody knows it. Almost. I wouldn’t leave my pets or small children alone with her, though.
You know what I noticed? Way back in Comic #097, after kicking Anders’ butt, Åsa is looking at Johan like “Oh you sexy spikey haired b*tch! You are a bad ass mofo aren’t you?”
How do you pronounce Åsa anyways? (Ah-Sah or Aeh-Sah or something else)
I keep getting the feeling that Johan is probably the smartest one of the group. I wanna say wise but I don’t think its the right word….
I’m looking for something like… he can see everything from an outside perspective and seems to always understand whats really going on.
Oh man… Johan say it ain’t so… Tell us that the look on your face doesn’t mean we are soon going to see a strip about how Tina’s being crazy is due to something you did… That it will be revealed that you are not as great as we think, but that you are merely human… Having positive, and negative qualities like the rest of the characters… :sigh:
Aw! Cute!! But, they are gonna have some funky-looking kids. Is it bad that when Ashley said Åsa’s teeth look like a gopher’s I thought of that gopher with the speech problem in “Winnie The Pooh”?
I actually interpreted Åsa as having “cute” slightly-bunny teeth vs. “needs-an-orthodontist” bunny teeth, b/c one of my sisters has teeth like that. Although I did have a friend in middle school with very pronounced “bad” bunny teeth…

I LIKE her teeth! Ya’ll are so mean. She’s a comic character, she needs to have distinctive features. PEOPLE. THIS IS A COMIC. It is hard to remember, I know.
I love going back over the last year or so of comics with the knowledge that we’ve been given now. Things that I had written off as just the comic’s rhythm now appear to be something of a setup of Tina as rather unbalanced all along.
Johan is a real sweetheart. I get the impression he basically has compassion for everyone, just some more than others and a violent sense of justice to boot.
å/Å is pronounced like the o in down in short form, or the au/aw in law or caught, so it’s a kind of o sound, it’s one of my favorite modified latin alphabet letters
My impression from the way Tina phrased it in the previous comic is just that she suspects Johan used to like watching her, and that maybe he had a thing for her (at least she thought so, as people like to imagine). Not that there was any kind of relationship. She thought she was giving him what she imagined he had always wanted from her.
Perhaps at one time he would have wanted it, perhaps not. Regardless of whether he was/is attracted to her, or even if he likes/hates her, I am sure that more than anything else, his love for his sister would stop him from ever doing anything with Tina. He knows what that would mean to Maria and he wants to protect her.
Also Asa looks.. considerably older now! For some reason she looked like a child when she was first introduced.. maybe because of her colourful outfit? She looks really casual in this page.
man, tough as anders and maria might have it right now, tina does have the worst luck of the bunch. i can understand her going mental after that overheard conversation. anders’ redeeming qualities are going to have to show up at some point or other, because it looks like maria would rather take him back than spend another night with bjorn.
i never found johan so charming as others here, but i see your point. he is loyal and full of righteous indignation for those he loves and i think he feels bad now for having been an ass to tina.
im totally confused about why tina is the craziest girl in town. Although the comic directly preceding this one definitely sheds some light on the situation. but i’ve throughly examined the back comics and if anything it seems like everyone would think that maria is the craziest girl in town. for example she stalked tina’s family which led to johan and maria being adopted by the family, maria’s vandalism of tina’s house and so on.

tbird: Well to begin with, Maria did not stalk Tina’s family. If you are referring to the Christmas flashback, this occurs after being placed in foster care with Tina’s family. Johan and Maria were placed in foster care due to their parent’s negligence and alcoholism 10 years before the christmas flashback. Make sense now?
As to why Johan and Åsa think Tina is such a crazy lady right now, you will just have to wait.

Ummm, is there a SINGLE person normal in Sweden? We know that in Johan town everybody is loony cos Tina is THE Craziest. In Stockholm guys beat girl, mother become lesbians with their sons first girlfriends, sons make photo of their girlfriend in bathroom. Tttttt hat’s all folks.
JAPONfan: This, this is nothing, you should see the Soap operas that have been produced here. On the other hand I expect that the incest drama will be just around the corner and then we will be slightly below par for the course.
On another note, I don’t know how you managed Rene but now more than before I want to beat Åsa to a bloody pulp and I have no idea why!

I don’t know Dantheman, it certainly wasn’t my intention. I’m more concerned over the need to beat someone to a bloody pulp than any amount of smugness.
I was looking back a few comics, and there was an unexplained comic of Johan kissing Anders. Does that scene stems from this? What if Johan staged the kiss so Tina gets some compromising pictures to sell? But then again, it’d still hurt Maria. Hmm.

On the other hand I think both of you miss the point and so did I, but why do I want to do it? Åsa would be if we look at it so far the one who has done the least “damage” of the cast. I wonder if it is just how she smiles and sighs knowingly when Johan refers to Tina as the craziest girl in town.

I REALLY love this arc. I’m feeling pretty bad for all the characters involved, and Johan is definitely one of my favorites. Keep up the great work!
