#130 - Lennart the midwife
Monday, March 17th, 2008This coming Saturday, March 22, is The UK Webcomix and Mini Thing Anders Loves Maria (me) will be there. I am sharing a table with some really great cartoonists, so please do come by. I will be giving away stuff, doing sketches and selling some nice UK Thing exclusive mini comics with never before seen material. Do you dig Octopus Pie, Scarygoround, Dr McNinja or Little Gamers? They will also be there!

Lennart is just a guy’s name. The significance is that he is a male in a traditionally female occupation. Björn thinks this is hi-la-ri-ous.

I have missed your comics this past little while. I hope your family is feeling better all around!
In a way, this comic makes me a bit sad. I don’t like to think that the baby would be born without Anders there. Yeah, he’s been an ass lately, but he is still the daddy, and I hope he would at least be there to support Maria through labor. Anyway, there are still a few months to go in the pregnancy, I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the better.

Who would’ve thought that being addled in the head (painkillers + no sleep) makes this comic even more awesome? Who knew this comic could even GET more awesome?
Yeah, so when I saw Bjorn being chauvinistic I got this ridiculously dramatic image of Anders busting through the wall all full of his ideas about progressive thinking (and also chivalry for Maria) and busting out in a ridiculous dance fight with Bjorn to the sound of Beat It by Michael Jackson with Maria playing the role of the pacifist singer.
So that was totally out of left field and I think I should go solve that with sleep.
….Or you know, green beer.

Thanks everyone for your warm welcomings! We are all pretty much healthy. My boyfriend will be on the mend for some time but every day he gets better! That is great!
I never mentioned this in my OP but there is a new facebook video (I can’t get the youtube recording to work). In that video I explain that the poster in the office that reads “Amma… annars jävlar” translates to “Breastfeed… …or fucking else!” Swedes take breastfeeding seriously. Very seriously.

Out of curiosity Rene, do all women go to a midwife in Sweden when they are pregnant, or is it a choice between Midwife or Obstetrician as we do in the US (and I think also Canada?)
