Dave: It’s funny you should say that. I read an article that your sibilings have more of a hand in raising you than your parents. About their being able to relate better because of lack of (gigantic) age rift and something about social situations.

mont…the age of consent is the age at which a girl’s right to agree to sexual acts is legally recognized. younger than ‘consent age’ she is considered to have been molested or raped - even if she agreed to the acts - because the state considers her to young to be capable of understanding what she is consenting to or some such.
i am starting to think bjorn is an asshole. 15…i see why people think his molestation in the last comic was creepy and full-on agree. yet we know that maria befriended him and joined his band so i guess i’ll have to wait for their history to be filled in before i damn him for good.

The age of consent does of course not only apply to girls. And it is only illegal to have sex with someone below the age of consent if you’re considerably older yourself, at least in Sweden.

In Canadia, I think under the age of consent the partners have to be within two years of each other in age. And our age of consent is fourteen, with the stipulation that the older partner can’t be in a position of authority over the other (police officer, teacher, etc) when the younger is under eighteen. That’s what I can fuzzily remember learning in highschool, anyway. I’m sure Sweden has a similar bunch of little stipulations and things.
Having been both an idiotic fifteen year old girl and a protective older sibling, this page really makes me sad in a lot of different ways. It also makes me think Bjorn is king of the assholes. His angry expression when Johan takes Maria away kind of makes me want to go all 2-D and slap him. Oh wow Bjorn, fancy that, your friend didn’t let you sleep with his fifteen year old sister - what a jerk!

Björn is pretty creepy, not just because of the age difference (I know the age of consent is 15, but still) and the fact that he’s hitting on Maria in front of her brother and I don’t believe he’s so stupid as to think Johan wouldn’t care. Very weird and creepy indeed.

Also, I thiiiiiiiink age of consent differs from province to province in Canada, because it seems to me in some places it’s 16 rather than 14. But yeah, seriously changed my mind about adult-Bjorn after seeing this stuff. I thought he was actually a pretty cool guy and a good match for Maria while all this stuff was going on with Anders, but I’m not sure I think that anymore.

In the states, consent age is different from state to state. In MT it is lower than most other states and is 16. What with our American founders being religious and everything, sex is a no no even if you are that old, half the time. And I think some other stipulations exist such as if you are younger than sixteen and are having sex with someone else younger than sixteen they don’t really do much but if one person is under and the other is eighteen or older all hell breaks loose; people are prosecuted for this kind of stuff often, I think. However, it is really up to the minor’s parents, because if you are not “consenting age” they are the ones who press charges for you.

Out of curiosity, I looked it up, and it’s 14 all across Canada. A lot of people don’t believe that though, mostly because 14 is really freaking young. But I guess it’s just acknowledging the reality that teenagers are going to experiment with sexuality.

Yeah, I duno. I am still not hating on Bjorn. This is an asshole move in front of Johan and everything, but shit happens. The older guy isn’t always the most horrible one. I do, however, love Johan just as much as ever. He is so cute!

Hah, this is incredibly believable for me. Someone mentioned that if the genders were reversed, we’d be happy for the guy getting some from an older woman…
I can definitely say that if I saw a twenty-something woman grab at my little brother’s crotch right in front of me, I wouldn’t even give her the courtesy of a warning before knocking out her teeth.
Heck, I’m 18, and one of my big sister’s friends simply asked her if she would introduce him to me (and apparently she made it very clear to him that she did not like that notion at ALL). It’s in the nature of an older sibling (male or female) to be protective. I guess we assume younger siblings are innocent and naive until reality slaps us in the face (looks like Johan just got slapped, poor thing. I do not look forward to that.)
