I bet Johan is going to be a playable character in the new Super Smash Brothers Brawl videogame.
This comic has made the readers very fickle. That Slut Tina!…Oh poor Tina. I love anders he is so sweet, Oh that bastard Anders I hope someone sticks a cactus in his pee hole! I am loving this! =)

I think that, after Johan first hit him, Anders has learned something. As such, he realized that if he fought back, he’d be even WORSE off. Simply taking the beating, as well deserved as it is, may win him sympathy points from Maria later. Unfortunately, Tina saw him first….

Haha, crabs are a kind of lice that infect body hair (specifically, pubic hair) “Infected junk” is slang for genitals with STD’s

.. I feel awful to constantly be thinking “JOHAN MADE A GOOD FUTURE IN ACT ONE”.. the Sonic joke is so gonna get run into the ground, I’m sure.
It’s sweet for Tina to be so concerned about Anders, even though her remark on the first panel makes me really want to know what happened with her and Maria back in school.. I keep imagining Tina calling Maria savage as a kid and bullying her about it.. I don’t know how much of a connection there is to what she said then, though XD
Then again Maria WAS the girl going to the forest and sniffing around shirtless.. any child could be cruel to “that” kind of person.

I’m part of the flood of people linked to you lovely comic from Overcompensating. You can add another Canadian to your collection of international readers! :^)
(Hmm… maybe you could get one of those little maps where everyone could log in with their location, and you could see where everyone lives?)
Anyways, I read an awful lot of webcomics, and I have to say that ALM is easily one of the best I’ve encountered. Your characters are so real and loveable, even when they’re doing very very stupid things. Your art is whimsical and unique, and keeps getting better. I devoured the whole archive this morning (at work no less! Eep!) and I can’t wait to see where things go from here.

Well, Anders is weak, no doubt. In both fights he ended beated the hell up.
Even if he “wanted” to be punished, I think it’s way too much damage he took there. But deserved… ha ha!
It looks that Johan will regret saying those words, Tina could be charging a fist of fury in the last panel…
Tina seems an honest gal, I’m almost sure that the issue María has with here is just a childish fight (mostly from María’s side).

Hec said exactly what I’ve been thinking about Anders and Tina. I’m just starting to think they’re both good people who just make big mistakes from time to time, much like the rest of us. Rene, I’ve enjoyed this comic from the beginning, but you’ve been doing an especially amazing job lately. ALM is easily one of my favorite comics.

I’m from Brazil and I just find myself in love for the comic! It’s just soo… human!
(I had to read from the begining, and at the same time had to avoid gigling… my boss would not like to find myself reading comics instead of working!!!)
And what Anders is thinkig about? Sleep with another girl with his girlfriend being pregnant? As sweet he could be, I would not forgive him… But I hope they find some way out of this mess…

I came over from Overcompensating last night and read all the archives in one fell swoop.
By the time I got to Anders sleeping with Tina, I was absolutely heartbroken. I literally felt sick to my stomach.
It says so many good things about you as a cartoonist that I could get so emotionally involved with these characters in about half an hour. Your art is lovely, and the way you make me sympathize with these characters is even lovelier. You have definitely earned a place on my webcomic bookmark list, which has gotten so long that I am now very choosy about which comics I bookmark.

Still feeling the lovely, lovely joy on seeing Anders mashed up heart-broken face - huzzah Johan! I felt kind of bad for Tina for a second, with a line like that, but then I remembered she randomly had sex with a guy she just met, who she knew had a pregnant girlfriend (at least i assume she knew, considering that maria seems to be showing pretty obviously). So now I’m back to feeling nothing except “Yay Johan!”.
Man, you have quite the mad skills to make everyone care about your characters this much. I almost wanted to go all 2-D and beat up some Anders myself!

Whoa, congrats on the link from overcompensating, I usually check that before ALM because I generally read ALM last since its me favorite/pisses me off/cracks me up the most. I really really really hope that Anders doesn’t end up with Tina. And your translation of the Johan remark is perfect, I think maybe people were confused as to who/why he was saying it- obviously in regards to Tina’s “What did she see?”. Anders looks like hell.

i agree with koosh about a book– i have never before purchased so much as a tshirt or totebag from any of the webcomics i’ve gotten into, (although i’ve been tempted with SGR and QC, there are some sweet shirts..) but i’d probably buy pretty much anything regarding this comic, particularly a book. that would be totally sweet!
p.s. I am american but i spent the past 4 months in denmark and i really like it when i can understand certain swedish things within the comic because of my experience abroad. like the hot dog. i’ve totally seen those.

Anders clearly didn’t attempt to defend himself as I thought. His personal ethic prevented that. I guess I can see his personal ethic also allowing him to be tender to Tina or anyone in general but not as far as he went.
