Monday, December 31st, 2007You didn’t miss yesterday’s giant Anders Loves Maria did you? It had some pretty exciting content.
Computer is running smooth as silk now. I’m a little worried that I might have lost some of my kids baby pictures though. Damn this modern age. I never develop photos. This is the price I pay. I did back up most of them though. Hopefully the damage isn’t too severe.

I say with the way Maria has been acting, I’d be thinking the same thing as Anders. If she can’t act mature towards someone, no matter how much she dislikes them, imagine trying to raise a kid with her.

When I originally wrote the script for this comic, about a year ago, Anders wasn’t at all thinking in this way. He will always try to do the right thing and back then the right thing was always sticking by Maria, through the good and bad. When these strips were creeping up on me I realised that Anders either had changed a little or the “right thing” to do was to leave Maria. This has me in a difficult position I’m sure you can understand. I mean the title of the bloody comic is “Anders Loves Maria”.
As to Maria’s behaviour, my theory is ALL humans are capable of crazy enough acts if set to enough pressure, based on their environment.

I can agree with that theory.
What really bothers me is that those same people who do that, seem to think that an apology is all that it takes to fix things. These people are also usually apologizing only because they got caught and not because they’re actually sorry.

I know it’s going to sound silly, but there’s also Maria’s frame of mind. Pregnant, hormones going crazy, town he hates, all this shit happening with boyfriend family… Sometimes people do crazy and stupid things. However if Anders was ever the type to do right you’d think he’d have the decency to converse about this first, rather than muff diving his way out. Guess he can be crazy and stupid too…

Well Lux, on the otherhand Anders is also under a lot of stress, drunk, heart-broken and all that jazz.

Very true, and it must be pretty gut wrenching to try to stand up, show he can be a good man without relying on his mother’s status, connections and get a normal job…and then have your attempt ruined by your girlfriend and her brother’s pettiness..Especially as it was first and foremost to win her family’s approval… and they are only there because he punched out a guy who hit Maria… Quite an interesting one!
I’m trying to appreciate the mindframe maria is in to drive her to acting like such a knob, and *why* she hates this tina so much must be a damn big thing!
but frankly Anders has a pretty good batting average in my book
