#065 - 2007-10-29
Monday, October 29th, 2007I don’t know if this is really worth writing about, but my webcomic got over 1000 unique visitors today for the very first time. I know that is nothing to write home about but it made me happy.
It also made me think about how little I “toot my own horn”. I think this is because I do get paid for the publication of the comic in Swedish, so I don’t tend to focus so much on advertising, merchandise and general “whoring”. This will change. Anders Loves Maria has had an increasingly loyal fan base since it’s beginning, but it is far from a “huge hit”. I will be making some major changes to how the site and comic is run when I get back to Sweden. And best for everyone will be a M-W-F schedule instead of the every Monday deal we have going on now.
One week until I depart for home!

He totally pooped himself. I’m very amused that the onomatopoeia in swedish is close enough to “fart”

He made the right decision. Always choose peer pressure.

Your strip is read by Swedish families?? Man, I have definitely been living in BC’s interior for too long.
Congrats on the milestone! It seems like ALM is hitting its stride.

Aw thanks guys!
I’m not concerned so much about “making it big” (a naive dream for a cartoonist) but I am concerned about making my comic as good as I can. However I am also concerned about supporting myself and my two babies! So a-whorin’ I shall go.
Justin: I guess I should clarify, it is read by Swedish parents or couples planning on starting families.

rene, there’s every reason you should toot your own horn. as a fan of many webcomics, i honestly believe that yours is, at the moment, the best one out there. the more effort you put into self-promotion, the more time you can devote to the comic because you’ll start to be able to bring in more money with it. this comic deserves to make money! it’s extremely good! TOOT TOOT
