#046 - 2007-07-07

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Hi! Posting a little earlier than Monday because I updated the look of the site a little. I’ll try throw in an extra comic next week so the wait till the next Monday doesn’t seem so big.

It seems that most people want me to stick to the clean line look of the digital made comics so I will stick with that for the time being. I’m also flirting with black lines again. (don’t hit me)

I vote super huge YES on black lines, they make everything so much more defined. Also the new header is spectacular!! And is this the first time we figure out what Anders does for a living?

  2. Happypeepeehead Says:

The header is adorable and I really love the green coloring that accompanies the page. It’s like grass growing through white sidewalk cracks. Hmmm… I was taught by professors who worship the impressionists, so I’m naturally a little traumatized to be averse to anything using pure black so I’m glad that the faint figures in the back are grey. I enjoy the softness it creates. I may be in the minority here, though.

I miss the titled background, though. I hope you get one that works with your new theme.

Oh and what do you say to the casual reader who stumbles in and sees that your header has a nearly naked woman yet the man is mostly clothed and suspects sexism?

  4. Rene Engström Says:

I would probably say that they are absolutely right. I am inadvertently affected by the sexist media. However i can not let this steer my writing. It is summer. Maria loves bathing suits and cooling her overheated pregnant self. Anders would never be caught dead wearing shorts (although he is very fond of skinny dipping)

  5. Fleen: Your Favorite Faux-Muckrakers Since 2005 » I Gotta Coordinate Things With Anne Better Says:

[…] And the webcomic is why I don’t think I like Rene Engström. It’s a romantic non-comedy, about Anders (photographer, in love with the idea of being in love, with a tabloid-fodder famous mom) and his girlfriend Maria (younger, less focused, in love with Anders but still able to get pissed at him when he’s an asshole). They have a comfortable relationship together when Anders drops a bombshell: he thinks they should have a baby. Maria recoils, an old girlfriend comes into the picture, Anders feels the tug of temptation, and Maria gets pregnant inadvertantly. It’s messy, they’re confused, but love wins out in the end. Fade to credits. […]
